I know it has been awhile since the last post, and I just wanted to update everyone on Army. He really has home life figured out. He has his favorite spots in the house, for some reason they are on the bare carpet and not the beds, but that is just part of Army's goofiness, and he is such a goof ball. If something has his attention he really does not notice anything else, which leads to him tripping over his own feet or running into stuff. He is so funny to watch sometimes. For example when he is excited about going out he will circle the couch for about 4 or 5 time before he tries to stand still for the leash and then he is so excited he tries to put his leash on with his mouth open and it ends up looking like a bridle. Add to this Army seems to have very little fear, so you end up with a dog who get excited, paces and then runs into the wall sometimes when he makes the transition from carpet to hard surface. It does not bother him. You just hear a slight "thud" and Army just keeps on going like nothing happened.
I did say little fear. I have found a few things that give him pause. He is not a big fan of thunder or the vacuum cleaner. The thunder has to rather loud for him to notice, and he does not run in terror of either it or the vacuum. With the thunder he just wants to know where it is coming from and with the vacuum he just does not want to be cornered by it.
Army has improved on his walks by leaps and bounds. He is still very curious about everything but he does not try to pull you after what has his interest, and if you keep walking he does not really stop to go investigate, but he will keep looking back and often trip over his own feet. As I said he is a goof ball and a sweet heart. He wants to have your attention and wants to be with you.
All in all Army is ready to find his forever home. He is just waiting for the right family to come along. Here he is looking cute and waiting for you to find him.

Army has been with us for a month now, and he has really figured out retirement. He is such a sweet boy. If you are ever feeling low just look at Army, and he will decide you need to pet him. You now have a purpose in life because he feels someone should be petting him all the time. I think he would like to be on the couch with people, but we do not allow that in our house. He is so loving, and so responsive to people. If he ever does something he is not supposed to do a stern "no" and he stops. Army is all ready to find his forever home, and I know that he will warm the heart of the right people the same way he warms ours. Come and meet Army this weekend he will be at 100 Oaks Meet & Greet.

Today was an important test day for Army Strong. I left him alone for the first time. He did well. He should be fine as an only dog. For the past two weeks he had not appeared to interested in the resedent grey, Specs, and now I feel certain he does not need another dog around. He is much more attached to and interested in people over other greys. When Specs and I got back from being out Army was excited to see me and be out of the crate. I was only able to leave him for about 31/2 hours today, but when I had to leave both of them for 6 hours on Thursday he did fine. I want to try leaving him alone for longer, but I think he would be fine alone for 6 hours. Well that is the big news with Army. We will be at the Meet and Greet at Smyrna on Saturday. Come out and meet Army and help him find his forever home.

Army resting after a hard day of hanging out on his own.

Another week hase gone by with Army Strong in our house, and he is starting to figure out home life. As the picture shows he LOVES stuffies and to play. He will get a toy and chew, chew to make it squeak. It gets a little loud sometimes but it is so much fun to watch that you just live with the noise. Along with his love of stuffies and squeakers is his enjoyment of ball chaseing. We do not have a fencedin yard, so we have not had a chance to really let him go after a ball, but he enjoys chaseing it around the livingroom when I toss the ball. We did get out on Sunday but it was too cold to stay long. Hopfully the weather will be good next weekend, and we will get a chance to really let him run around. We did get a cute picture of him while we were out. He looks like he is laughing! Another thing that Army loves is neck rubbs and scratches. Sometimes if you get the right spot his leg gets into the action, as the video shows.
Now I need to brag about how good Army was today. We had people over doing work under the house, and I was worried that it would bother Army, but he did really well. He actually slept through the first few hours they were their. He became more interested in them after lunch when he realized they were people. Then he spent the rest of the time trying to find them. He could hear them but he could not see them. He got alittle worried by all the noise but he seem more curious then scared. Well that is all I can think of for now. Stay tuned for more pictures and information.

Army Strong arrived in town Monday after missing his ride in January. It was a rough first few days, new environment for him first time foster for me, but we got through and things get better each day. He crates well and does not seem to mind when I leave him alone and take the resident grey out for a walk. He still needs work on the stairs. He goes up and down just not gracefully. He looks more like he is trying to jump up them all at once, but that should get better with time a more work. He walks OK on lead. He pulls some, butI think that will get better with time. In fact I think he could easily be trained to jog with the persin walking him. He has no problem doing all his business on lead, so a fenced in yard is not manditory for him. Now his most endearing quality; he loves people. Army wants to be with you all the time, and he thinks you should pet him any time your hands are free. He walks up and moves your hand to get you to start petting and if you stop he bats at you with his paw as if to say "Your work is not done." That is all for now stay tuned for more intell on Army Strong. Oh enjoy the pictures of him being cute.

He roached on the second day! Go Army!
